Transportation to Isle Royale is available from Houghton and Copper Harbor on Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and from Grand Portage along Minnesota’s North Shore. There is a water taxi service available to trails and campsites. You will need a permit to stay overnight. The park is open May- September. A great way to keep the nasty bugs away from you on your quiet walk, is to put a dryer sheet in your pocket. The bugs do not like the chemicals used in the sheet. So get out there and enjoy!
